Clear yellow/amber pour with a somewhat stable white head. Aromas of grapes, rum, raisins, pineapple, white bread. Taste is rum, orange/marmalade, raisins, pineapple, grapes, sugar. Quite boozy finish - definitely feeling the rum.

15 September 2024. At 16de Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke, Kevin & Jerre!

Rum, white sugar, pineapple. Same in taste, quite bitter in the end, more vodka than rum. Ripe yellow fruits all around. Not that good.

'Quadrupel blond' (which is as contradictory to me as 'triple brune') by De Leite, infused with rum; thanks to tderoeck for sharing. Eggshell-white, moussey, regularly shaped, shred-lacing head over an initially clear 'old' golden beer, misty and more peachy with sediment. Aroma of halfripe banana, white bread dough, apricot, touch white rum but very subtle, honey, old potatoes, clove, turnip, pear. Some dryish 'green' fruitiness in the onset, unripe peach and unripe banana, touch pear, medium carbonated with smooth, slick mouthfeel; cereally and white-bready malt core with an unripe fruit effect lingering on, some mild grassy hops in the finish alongside a 'coconutty' white rum effect, turning a tad astringent in the very end. Feels rather crude and boozy - and it being blonde and not brown, not even amber, makes it qualify as a tripel for me: screw brewer's intent (the term 'quadrupel' being relatively young in beer history and first used for La Trappe Quadrupel, which is not the same as La Trappe Tripel, then extended to the 'massive ales' of Belgium and that is how beer style names become solified by usage over the years - but I could go on about this for hours). Not my cup of tea, to be honest, I expected more from De Leite, but I think liquor-infused beers (usually a cheap and lazy alternative to barrel ageing) are just not my thing in general.

23/VII/24 - 75cl bottle from Carrefour (Oostakker), shared @ Alengrin’s place, BB: 15/III/29 (2024-596)

Clear orange to blond beer, big creamy off-white head, unstable, falls down quickly, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots of coriander, banana, yeasty, a bit sugary. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very sourish, alcoholic, sweet, more alcohol, malty, grains, alcohol burn, sugary, coriander, paint stripper. Aftertaste: a little bitter, yeasty, some herbal notes, very malty.

75cl bottle (for 9,95e) from Colruyt Schaarbeek in Brussels.
F: medium, white, good retention.
C: gold, clear.
A: malty, apples, caramel, banana, rum touch, I don’t get DMS.
T: full malty base, banana, apples, vinous, vanilla, quite boozy, caramel, rum, bit cheap feeling, dough touch, bit citrus, decent bitterness (43 IBU), ok not bad, enjoyed.

Good white, dense head over finely carbonated golden beer. Pale malts, vegetables as celeri, DMS. There is a fine sourish background aroma as (cooked) rhubarb. Alcoholic character, rum, gin, and starch. Less obvious DMS, but still present. There is a weyish bitterness, linked to the booze. Certain sweets/gums. Very fiery alcoholic, medium bodied, slick to viscous. Good carbonation. Boozy, not very subtle. And the par excellence example why "Quadrupel" ought not to be considered as a style. Strangely enough, available at Colruyt supermarkets in 75 cl bottles.
