Expect the unexpected. The fierce bite of roasted malt meets the gnarly, tropical bitterness of new world hops to offer a balanced, complex and refreshing Black IPA with bags of flavour.
Black malt, chocolate malt and flaked oats join Maris Otter pale malt to add roasted and chocolate notes, giving the beer an intense dark appearance. Masses of Cascade, Columbus, Chinook and Citra hops create woody pine, biting citrus and bright tropical flavours.

500ml bottle from Waitrose in Jersey. Pours black with a off white head. Aromas & tastes of coffee, pine & roasted malt. Medium body. Light bitter finish. Enjoyable

500ml bottle; BB 3rd October 2024, shared with my cousin Robert at my place on 14th May 2024. Dark brown body, light beige crown. Malty front with a hoppy bitterness within, both piney and citrusy notes.

Bottle from Tesco Supermarket, Salford. Very dark, quite active out of the its container so quite a frothy head. Understated as an Black IPA, some fruit available, remains pleasant though.

Bottle at home, 10th February 24. Pours dark brown and watery. Aroma is roasted malts, caramel. Taste is roasted malts, light caramel, light floral. Not a great BIPA

Dark amber/brown pour with a somewhat stable white head. Aromas of roasted malt, faint cocoa and coffee. Flavour is (roasted) malt, dired fruit berries, cocoa, milk/cream. Interesting, but in a god way.

50cl bottle from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours dark brown, with fine light cream foam. Aroma is delicate of coffee and toasted. Body and carbonation are average. Taste is medium bitter, with a little bit of underlying sweetness. Final is average.

Bottle from Waitrose. Pours almost black (cola colour) with a large thick foamy beige head. Aromas of tropical and citrus fruits, pine, leafy hop and a touch of chocolate. Taste is quite complex with more of the fruity notes, citrusy orange, pine, hops, chocolate and some added charred smoke and earthy peat. Medium to full body, low carbonation and smooth mouthfeel. Nice lacing down the glass. Very decent beer. Will have this again some time.
