Necessary Evil has been taken to the next level once more!
We have released another version of our multi award winning Imperial Stout. Necessary Evil Triple Sec is aged in bourbon barrels that have subsequently matured the revered orange liqueur! Aromas of candied Seville orange are followed by a rich, full bodied and oily citrus tang to balance out the sweet, vanilla oaky-ness synonymous with our flagship Barrel Aged beer.
Aged for 8 months in Triple Sec barrels, our flagship Imperial Stout has taken on the citrus character of the orange liqueur, giving a counterpoint to its dark heart.

Bottle, smallish bubbly head, oapque very dark brown, lots of bittersweet chocolate, some caramel and ash, fruity liquor and candy, becomes sweeter as it warms up. Nice and sippable but not too complex.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Thornbridge online. Pours black with a creamy, brown topping. Medium sweet flavour with notes of bitter cocoa, stewed dark fruits, barrel, ash, earth, raisins. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Hot finish, more ashy roast, bitter cocoa, scorched earth, schnapps, raisins, burnt toffee. Solid.

--Sample, thanks oh6gdx! -- Black, small head. Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Chocolate sauce, brandy and coffee. Long bitter warming finish. Decent, albeit pastryish.

ABV: 13.0%. Clear dark darkred brown colour with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, bread, roasted, dark malt, malty, barrel, liquor, wood - oak, light to moderate chocolate - coffee. Flavor is heavy sweet and light bitter with a long duration, barrel, bourbon, dark malt, sweet malt, coffee - chocolate, liquor. Body is medium to full, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming and light alcoholic. [20240324]

Bottle (from Alko web). Coppery brown colour with not that much head. Aroma is oranges, some chocolate, mild toast, roast, alcohol and some toffee to it. Flavour is chocolate, oranges, some roasted tones, alcohol and some fudgey tones.

Dissipating light brown head left a highly carbonated dark brown body. Dark spirits, caramel, toffee & orange aroma. Medium to full bodied, smooth on the tongue thinning out to a lightly carbonated sticky back. Malt, biscuit, orange, toffee & caramel tastes with a lightly hopped bitter finish. Lovely sipper

A almost black beer, a head is brown and almost medium, but quickly decreasing. Aroma has liquorice, barrel, some salt liquorice and orange. Taste has liquorice, barrel, light orange, strenght of alcohol. Almost full bodied. Slightly too boozy. However, this is very good.

Panda 🐼 at home big thanks to Colin. A A thick dark mahogany brown coloured pour with a fine dark tan head. Aroma is boozy, sticky dried fruit cake, caramel, woody , vanilla, vinous fruits. Flavour is composed of medium sweet, woody bark, vanilla, bourbon, vanilla, some fruit cake, tannin. Palate is semi sweet, sticky fruit cake, warming alcohol, Good.
