Cask at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks, Wednesday 21st May 2014 Chestnut in colour with off-white head. Aroma was quite floral (or is that me imagining things due to beer name) quite a hard and slightly harsh taste. Some bitter chocolate perhaps but no vanilla. Much like the Aylesbury beer in terms of being a slight disappointment. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov11 3.0

Bottle, from Oddbins LB split at Colin and the Vikings "pre" tasting, Nol, Goteborg, Sweden 22/03/14. Extremely dark mahogany brown (what the fuck is that beer in the picture !?!) with a moderate light beige covering. Nose is earthy cocoa, light roast, vanilla, hint of biscuit, coffee pangs. Taste comprises mellow dark fruits, charred wood, dark berry fruit, earthy cocoa, biscuit notes. Light to medium body, fine carbonation, a little sweet notes creep in at the close. Ok mild.

Bottle at the "Colin and the Vikings tasting, Goteborg". Poured a murky dark brown with a round off white head. The aroma is creamy caramel roasted malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a light malt hop bitter liqourice palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A very drinkable mild. It’s amazing what flavours you can get out of a 3.5% beer!
