Imperial porter flavoured with cocoa and blueberries, thanks Craftmember for sharing. Thin and open, mocha-beige head, jet black robe with waferthin copper red edge. Intense aroma of Belgian luxury chocolates, blueberry jam, vanilla (extract), hazelnut purée, Parfait Amour liqueur, milk chocolate bars, dark cane sugar, bavarois, mocha ice cream, brown rum, toffee, chocolate liqueur and faint background notes of ladies’ perfume and peppermint. Densely sweet, hugely concentrated onset, blackberry coulis, blueberry compote, pear syrup, softly carbonated with very thick, greasy, oily body; layers of fudge, hazelnut and milk chocolate ensue, topped with sweet lactose creaminess and vanilla; this minty touch subtly returns amidst Belgian chocolate, brown rum and mocha ice sensations. Liqueurish, warming finish, sweet with a light toasty-nutty note and something brown honey-like lingering, yet not as sticky as anticipated. Downright decadent beer – a pastry porter of a kind I would not normally drink in the heart of summer, but quite cleverly constructed in spite of its bulk and, all things considered, quite delicious, probably the best Emperor beer for me so far.

330ml can. Pours black with a big tan head. Aroma of blueberries, chocolate, cake. Taste is very sweet, the blueberry cheesecake flavour is completely on point, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, some alcohol warmth to finish. Full bodied, smooth. Sublime.

On tap at The Rusty Bucket, Eltham. Black pour with a tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate Bounty bar, cacao, caramel, coffee, cocoa, dark chocolate, blueberry. Rich taste of cacao beans, coconut, dark chocolate, caramel, blueberry jam, toffee. Humungous alcohol burn. Long warming finish. Top notch.
