BARREL-AGED BARLEYWINE

Fremont Brewing began as a dream in 2008. Years later, our dream has come true in each and every one of you, our craft beer family. And like every family, we have had our ups and our downs, but we keep coming back together knowing we are stronger together. In your hands is a special nod to you, a gift for now that will continue to give many years from now should you have the patience to wait…Brew 7000. This English-style barleywine ale uses floor-malted English barley, Noble hops, and is aged in 10-15 year-old, single use bourbon barrels for 16 months to bring you a complex and subtle craft beer flavor experience. We brewed this to celebrate brewing our 7000th brew, and we look forward to sharing it with you, our craft beer family. “Barleywine Is Life.” – VWP

Down & Dirty: Maris Otter Pale and Carafa 2 Special malts with White Wheat and Magnum and US Goldings hops.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle. Aroma is malt forward with loads of caramel and toffee layers along with burnt sugar, molasses, Tootsie Rolls and hints of chocolate. Light toasted bread and faint nut notes. Hints of leather, raisin, date and tobacco. Light bourbon and alcohol notes. Pours brown with auburn and ruby hues on the edges with a small, thin, tan head that recedes quickly and disappears. No lacing and long legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with loads of caramel, toffee, burnt sugar, Tootsie Roll and toasted bread. Faint notes of molasses, nuts and chocolate. Light fruit notes of raisin and dates. Light bourbon and oak notes. Hints of leather. Mouthfeel is full bodied and a bit sticky with low carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid BA barleywine. Really nice malt notes and complexity with balanced bourbon and barrel notes. Sweet but not as much as some of the recent Brew X000 beers.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma is full of bourbon barrels, plenty of caramel, brown sugar, and dark dried fruits. Flavour is rich and treacly, with lots of bourbon, dark dried fruits, and caramel. Rich and beautifully balanced. Excellent.

Delicious.

7/11/2023. Bottle shared by Colin, cheers. Pours very dark brown with a small bubbly beige head. Aroma is warming, boozy, brown sugar, caramel, bourbon, dried fruits, woody edge. Medium sugary sweetness, moderate bitterness. Full bodied, very smooth, soft carbonation. Lovely.

22oz shared with Alex and Farees (thx, for the bottle!) @ Ryan's after crazy several weeks helping wife with her business. Appearance: very dak copper with a beige head. Aroma: caramel, some creamy notes, bit of booze, malty. Taste: along the same lines, lots of caramel, nice creamy oak notes, nice sweetness (almost on the edge, though). Overall: good one. I think it's much better than 5k and 6k.
