Can at home from DeBierkonig, Amsterdam, 31st December 23. Pours black. Aroma is whiskey and peat, chocolate and wood. Taste is smooth, bitter, barrel and liquor, chocolate and mild peat, mellow with some sweetness. Good, but I preferred the Peated version

0.33 l can from 'Rebelbeercans', canned in October 2023. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, quite roasty, gently smoky and a bit fruity aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, roasted hazelnut, whisky, smoked ham, apple and some peat. Quite sweet, malty, rather roasty-bitter, gently smoky and slightly fruity taste of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, licorice, roasted hazelnut, whisky, apple, ash, peat and some smoked ham, followed by a long, fairly roasty-bitter, a bit woody finish. Full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Again very intense, but a bit more balanced than the Croftangea version. Good beer, but not for the faint-hearted.
