12/XI/21 - sample @ Billies Craft Beer Festival Day 1 (Waagnatie, Antwerp), BB: n/a (2021-1302) Thanks to the Brewver crew and other beer buddies for sharing today’s beers!
Clear red beer, no head. Aroma: funky, bitter impression, very hoppy, lots of red wine, tannins, wood notes, funky, spicy, red grapes. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots and lots of tannins, funky, bit fruity, bitter, dry. Aftertaste: grape peel, more tannins, grapefruit, juicy, bitter, good!

Italian Grape Ale, all day long. Ratebeer too busy disappearing up it's own arse with unnecessary and unexplained style splits! Light haze on this cherry red beer, small pinkish head dissaptes quite quickly. Light malts, modest sweetness. Great red wine flavours, light but punchy berry fruits with a light but pleasing tartness. Juicy berry finish. Lovely. All the flavour of a good red wine delivered with a light palate and * shock horror * decent carbonation. Lip smacking finish. IGAs rock!

Bottle - Deep cherries, some pit and touch of barrel notes. Deep maroon with almost no head. Very tart off the tip and cherry with a light touch of balsamic and a bright acidity and tartness that fades quick. Fruit again reappears in the finish when that acidity dies. Pretty solid, but the fruit can't shine past the acidity.

Brouwerij Lane, Brooklyn tap: pours dark purple with a small head. Aroma is sour fruitiness, vinegar. Taste is sour and very fruity. Taste is sort of heartburn inducing sour. Some aftertaste.

Bottle thanks daniele. Dark purple pour, the violet foam dissipates quickly leaving no trace at all nose: sweet candy-like aroma of grapes, red fruit, elder flowers. Mouth: (extremely) sparkling, which somehow impedes a bit drinkability. Sourness is over the top, ribes, tart a bit.

From a "bag" @ Koht, Tallinn. Pours deep red, totally flat and without any carbonation whatsoever. Sour acidic nose, fruit juice, some vinegar and funk. Red currant juice mixed with grape juice and fermented dry. Tastes dry, oaky, lots of wine vinegar and acidity. Even too much of that acidity to my liking. Dry, has fruitiness but not really any sweetness left, lots of acidity though, slight funk. Quite abrupt finish, leaving some tannins into otherwise dry and puckering mouth. I do like the style in general and I do like this beer, tasty!
