Draft. Third one of flight at House of Bird Kwintelooijen, half way during a hike from Amerongse Berg to Kwintelooijen and back. Color: Hazy reddish amber, beige head. Aroma: Caramel malt, yeasty hints, Taste: Caramel malt, wort, subtle dark and roast malt, notes of oak wood. Over moderate sweet, moderate bitterness. Ok.

Fles 33cl thuis. Leren Proeven 10/12. Samen met 9/12 Meerkoet. Rood fruit, hout, licht vanille, licht droog, redelijk zacht, maltig, redelijk zoet, bittertonen, rozijn, citrus, hoppig, marsepein. (18-11-2022).

0.33 l bottle from 'Drinks & Gifts', bottled in September 2022. Clear, ruby with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently fruity and a little peppery aroma of molasses, raisins, prunes, marzipan and vanilla. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently fruity taste of molasses, raisins, prunes, caramel, vanilla, marzipan and a touch of cherry, followed by a medium long, gently bitter, slightly dry, minimally woody finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice Barley Wine, quite well-balanced with quite some hops in the finish. A little drier and with more vanilla than the base beer, didn't taste them side by side though.
