This new dark amber beer has spicy hop notes on the nose, leading to a delicious malty flavour which continues through to dry malt and rich berry fruit notes in the finish.

Pours a clear amber colour with a small foamy cream coloured head. The aroma is malty, caramel and some fruity notes. A moderately sweet taste, sweet malts, caramel, candied citrus peel, dark berry flavours with some light spice and bitterness in the finish.

1/3 pint, cask at Trent Bridge Inn (JDW). Shared with Finn. Clear amber body, filmy layer, spotty lacing. Caramel-fruity aromas, inviting. Balanced taste profile of caramel malts, dark berries, and soft fruity hops. Mid-sweet berry fruits to the end. Medium bodied. Decent. (Nottingham 13.10.2022).

Cask at Playhouse Spoons Colchester. Clear amber beer, good cream colour head. Smooth mouthfeel, but decent fine carbonation coming through on the back end. Soft creamy malts, a touch of bitterish caramel toffee. The English hops bring a spicy but mild bitterness along with mellow marmalade and nice soft and sweetish floralness. Finishes light and leaves a mild bitter linger. Comes together well. Nice balance, nice mouthfeel and very drinkable.

Cask @ Regal Moon, Rochdale. Clear copper-amber with a small creamy head. Easy enough light earthy maltiness with a mild bitter nose, and perhaps even milder bitter taste.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading.] An amber pour with a ring of white head; malty aroma; biscuity malt taste; and a light spicy bitterness. A straightforward ordinary bitter.

Cask at Lime Kiln, Liverpool. Pours “bitter brown” with a small off-white head and good lacing. The aroma has spices and traditional hops. In the mouth it is slightly fruity with a dynamic balance between traditional and floral hops and some malty notes. Later it becomes more bitter with oranges involved, and the bitterness leading to quite a dry finish. This is decent – but I wouldn’t call it a Belgian style beer !
