And here is our second attempt at an ultra-light beer, the PETIT BOULBA! The story behind the name is amusing: Brewing in our very first brewery in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw was entirely manual and really exhausting. For lunch, we dreamed of a light and flavorful table beer to quench our thirst... One day, Bernard had the idea to mix a Taras Boulba with an equal amount of sparkling water to make a "small beer". A super refreshing beer that wouldn’t prevent us from getting back to work in full shape! And we decided to call it the "Petit Boulba"...
We reused the name as a reminder of the early days, but of course we made the beer according to a specific recipe. Petit Boulba is a blond beer with only 2.8% alcohol, with a blonde and cloudy appearance due to the use of wheat and oats. Its aroma is very floral, with notes of fresh cereals. On the palate, these aromas develop further and blend with notes of white fruits and fine herbal touches. Petit Boulba is slightly bitter and has a very dry and super refreshing finish

330mL bottled Feb 3, 2026, drunk May 6, 2026.
Bright and fragrant with a clean, clear, spicy hop and supportive malt despite its small stature. Bit of lemon-lime, hint of cookie-like malt. Easygoing. Other than the slight floral character from the hop, not all that redolent of Taras Boulba, but half the size makes it a completely different beast.
Light and very, very drinkable. Not thin in the least. More maltiness than many beers two-to-three times its size, though not too malty. Perfume and fresh cut grass, or lilac if you will. Much more Taras Boulba in the mouth than nose, just not quite the intensity of that one, obviously. Still, for its size, it doesn't get much more flavorful. Kind of reminds of Guineu Riner, but this is a lot more polished than most batches of that were (no chalky dry hop or big earthiness here). Lingering honey and fresh cut grass. Lovely, of course.

Draft pour at Zwanze Day 2026, at The Sovereign in Washington DC. Poured a clear yellow color with a medium sized fizzy white head. Plenty of light floral notes, lemon zest, citrus, with some grapefruit. Flavor was very light, very delicate. Smooth, tasty herbal notes. Quite a tasty beer. Really, really nice.

330 ml, bottled 07 Aug 24. Straw coloured body, with a medium head.
Aroma of fresh herbs, grass, flowers, pine, dough, citrus, some stone fruits. Tastes similar.
Lighter mourhtfeel, with a lively carbonation. Finishes dry, bitter, herbal, floral, piney, citric.
Very easy to drink, but also very crisp and characterful, with beautiful hop notes. Simply outstanding for the low ABV, even over a year after bottling!

0,33l bottle at home courtesy of Saeglopur, big thanks. Bottled 07. August 2024. BB 07. May 2025. straw yellow cloudy color, small white head. Smells grassy, earthy, leathery, some brett, peppery, some spices. very nice smell. light body, soft carbonation. Tastes citric, earthy, flowery, peppery, some brett, leathery, tobacco, some herbs. Finishes lightly dry and light to medium bitter with notes of brett, pepper and leathery notes. very nice one, great complexity, easy to drink yet quite enough going for it. finish trails away a bit, but this could be related to freshness. Overall very good one.

Bottle. Hazy light yellow with white head. Wheat, doughy, soft lemon balm, bitter leafy hops, zesty. Light sweet and a bit more bitter. Body is surprisingly thick and creamy. Very nice for a low abv beer.

Very stable, thick snowwhite head over veiled, greenish yellow beer. Herbal, herbs, grains, young leaves. Bitterish herbal, bit citrussy, citruspeel, with hints at light acidity. Light, but feeling absolutely nowhere empty, nor tastewise. Mild carbonation, refreshing. Amazing session IPA. Or table beer, if you prefer old belgianisms! Txs to Stef!
