Mooch tasting
Dark brown colour. Nice aroma of peated whiskey, light cardboard. Good body strength, lean mouthfeel, moderately sweet; chocolate notes, with a salty layer of peat whiskey and light soy sauce.
I like peat, but this version removes some elegance from the base beer. Very good, just in a different way.

Bottle - Smoke, pear and iodine. Jet black brown with a small brown head. Woody and peaty with a bit of toast and a long finish. Wood and peat overwhelm.

Dark brown. Not much head. Some toffee notes, rich sugars on the nose. Fairly rounded. Dark, nice smoky, peaty character, with some burnt toffee stuff. Not particularly well balanced - very heavy on the treatment. The barrel character is quite harsh. There's some decent sweetness underneath to help this along, but it does lack balance.

330mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Nose reveals plenty of smoked, peaty whiskey barrels, with a bit of soy sauce and iodine buried underneath. Flavour is along the same lines, with peat, smoky ash, and iodine. Peaty and toasty, with an iodine finish. Not bad - certainly much better than the regular version.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque black with a small, beige head. Nose has sweet roast and pretty solid peat. Rich body, hardly any carbonation, solid malt base, thick and sweet, but for this rater the iodine notes from the peat spoils the fun. But I bet the regular version is delish. 11.12.17

Shared 330 ml bottle at local tasting, ABV is 11.8%, IBU 65. Black colour, small tan head. The aroma has distinct notes of whisky and oak, also roast malts. Roasty dry flavour with notes of whisky and oak again, also tar and ashes.
