Bottled. Deep mahogany colour, no head. Woody tobaccoish date- like malt aroma. Sweet with full body and dense, rounded mouthfeel. Whisky, tobacco, raisins, port and bready, treacly malt. Warming bitter finish.

Bottle recently purchased for the HotD website - I wasn’t going to drink this beer now, but a family tragedy has me saying “fuck it” right now - I may drink this whole goddamn bottle - anyway - still hazy dark ruby - nose is deep port, rum, treacle, plum, oak, red wine, brown sugar, earthy malt, mild oxidation - slick mouthfeel - sweet port, rum, chocolate, plum, brined cherry, brown sugar, treacle - back end is lingeringly warm but not boozy - lots of oak and red wine tannins linger long past the finish - pretty tasty - I want to say I like the 2023 better, but that may just be because I have an extra bottle of that one to cellar.

From a shared bottle. A sweet barleywine, the four barrel treatments blend together with no discernable flavor from them individually. Very low carbonation.

Aromas are really mellow dark ripe fruit, whiskey, dark malt, cocoa, spice. Flavors are like nose, more sweet than bitter up front. Add a touch of salt. Super smooth. A pleasant warm finish.

12 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany, no head. Aroma is boozy, with lots of dark sugars, rum and port barrels, some bourbon, and alcohol. Flavour is super boozy, with lots of rum barrels, bourbon, port, and booze. Rich, boozy, but integrated. A nice treat in tiny amounts, more like a spirit.

Poured from a 16 oz bottle. Aroma is rich and malt forward with lots of dark caramel, toffee, toasted breads, and burnt sugars. Notes of raisins, figs, dates and spices cherries. Medium light bourbon notes and light port, rum and oak notes. Moderate alcohol notes. Pours a nice brown color with auburn and amber hues on the edges with no head at all. No lacing and very long legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet, but not cloying with lots of dark caramel, toffee, burnt sugar and toasted bread. Lighter notes of spices nuts, raisins, prunes and spices cherries. Medium bitterness and moderate alcohol notes. Medium oak notes. Quite a bit of bourbon, rum and port notes. Mouthfeel is full bodied and slightly sticky with no carbonation. Low astringency and medium alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid barleywine. Lots of really nice, complex malt notes with complex, layered barrel character. Works completely fine without carbonation.
