From the perfect 2022 harvest, this is our first bottling of Kingston Black, farmed by our friend Robin at Hill Farm near Hereford.
Kingston Black, with its natural balance of fruit, tannin, acid and sugars, is one of the few apples that can truly succeed as a single variety cider. To keep its purity we kept the cider out of barrels throughout the making process and, to give a fine sparkle, it was bottle conditioned prior to release.
Sweet blossom, apple pie and icing sugar aromas move onto quite concentrated flavours of honey, peach, dried apple, vanilla and fruit cake spice. All of this is enlivened with fresh acidity and the softest of tannins to make it a juicy mouthful of joy!

750ml via Press online's summer box.
Dusty medium gold pour, almost settled. Quick soda head.
Creamy, sharp, sauvignon blanc, some subtle spice on the nose.
Off-dry, bittersweet yeasty clay note upfront, with old pineapple & lingering papaya fruitiness, cupcake frosting, with a strong punch of lemon-lime acid. New Leather tannins, bitter lime rind, lingering red berry, medium strength barn funk. Some yeasty vanilla endtrails.
Bite-y, warming, sizzling high acid, medium-low tartness, touch of body, low-ish sulfites.
I would have baked this to 8% & completely dried it out but pretty great as is.

Large bottle picked up from Hereford Beer house, had at Isobel and Jude's, Wednesday 11th June 2025. Pours dark gold, slight haze, slim rim of white bubbles. Soft slightly warm apples on the nose, streaky apple and tart, tangy bite, dry finish there is a funky edge. V.good..

750ml bottle from Little Pomona. Clear orangey gold colour, white foam head that dissipates to a thin layer and aroma of apple, fruits, spicy earthy funk. Taste is sweetish, tangy, tart, apple, fleshy fruity, apple pie hint, with orchardy funk, some flowery, peach & citrus notes, and bittersharp tannin. Medium bodied, light carbonation, dry tart & tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.
