Imperial Stout + Caramelised Miso + Intense Decadence
Directly inspired by food, our head brewer Brett was blown away by a dish serving caramelised miso butter in our restaurant at Wild Beer Jessop House. Instantly he wanted to recreate this flavours in a beer.
An imperial stout was brewed with lactose, sea salt, caramelised miso paste and tonka beans, this is a whole new take on ‘a decadent stout’. A direct descendant, or rather an older relative, of our salted caramel chocolate stout Millionaire. Intense and velvety the umami character shines through in Billionaire where salinity and a lactose body is matched by the intense umami on the miso paste.
With a long, warming bear hug of a finish this is a beer to be sipped and savoured.

Bottle from Burg Bieren, 33 cl sample. Dark color, short frothy head. Aroma of lots of caramel and toffee, bit salty, some roast. Bit sweet caramel, bit salty, slight roasty bitterness. Velvety texture. Lovely.

Pours black with a small tan head.Nose shows cocoa, roasted malt, a savoury broth note, caramel and toffee, booze, coconut and biscuity notes.Flavours include varamel, roasted malt, cocoa, liquorice, biscuity tonka bean notes and coconut along with lactose sweetness.

Bottle at home, 12th May 17. Pours black, slick, little head. Aroma is chocolate, biscuit, cocoa, caramel. Taste is rich, dry, some sweetness, cararmel, decadent chocolate, Unami, I get the beans, it’s clever and complicated. Good stuff

Bottle at home picked up from beer gonzo. An oily jet black coloured pour with a lasting thin light tan head. Aroma is fruit cake, chocolate fudge, solvent, jammy fruits, and harsh hot alcohol. Flavour is composed of Salted caramel, miso, tangy dried fruit, cakey malts,, Warming alcohol, apple,. Palate is medium sweet, full and sticky bodied, moderate carbonation. Big woody chocolate cake finish. A little bit of a kitchen sink beer.

0,33l bottle at home. no obvious BB date. black color, small coffee-colored head. smells soy sauce, licorice, earthy, some vanilla, bit cardboardish, nice smell overall. full body, soft carboantion, slick mouthfeel. tastes of cardboard, peppery, soy sauce, earthy, some licorice, light vanilla. finishes lightly sweet with notes of soy sauce, cardboard and some weird peppery sweet notes. not a fan of this, definitly not my kind of imp stout. quite a lot of soy sauce, cardboard and sweetness. seems quite overrated.

Beige head kept a cover on a very dark brown still body. Medium to full bodied. Full on tastes of chocolate, coffee, demerara, grape & brandy notes. Excellent!

Bottle from the Beer Gonzo Web Shop. Pours black with a tan head. Nasal tingling aromas of licorice, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, raisin, caramel, dark fruit, cocoa. Flavours of smoke, coffee, licorice toffee, dark chocolate, sweet spice. Smooth, velvety mouthfeel. Long, sweet warming finish. Excellent.

Pours black in colour with a brown foam head leaving some lacing and aroma of roasty, nutty, malt, chocolate, caramel. earthy, Taste is caramel malty, sweet, rich chocolate, molasses, and with roasted bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, full bodied, soft carbonation, earthy roast bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.
