Hazy yellow with a frothy, white head. Pineapple aroma, but also a touch floral. Bittersweet with a mix of fruit candy and dough up front, increasingly bitter at the back as the hops take the upper hand. Medium bodied, dry, good chewiness. Refreshing. Pleasant.

German hazy IPA from a can bought at Stacks Sint-Andries, hopped with Citra, Azacca and the far less known Waimea, a citrusy variety developed in 2012 as a (then) new New Zealand hop. Thick and frothy, egg-white, moussey and firm, lacing head on a hazy apricot blonde robe with yellow-golden glow. Aroma of honey pomelo, guava, withering lemongrass, cold oatmeal pancakes, halfripe mango, calamansi, rambutan, milk, pink peppercorns, lemon thyme, canned pineapple, warm pear cake, fresh croissants, grapefruit zest, background hint of puddle water. Sweetly citrusy onset with lots of sultry tropical fruit, lots of honey pomelo again, lychee, rambutan and guava, sweet with a citric sourish edge, quite refreshing; minerally carbonation, perhaps a tad on the sharpish side for a NEIPA. Smooth, full body, clear velvety oats and slick wheat paired with a cake-like barley creaminess, soaked in aromatically citrusy and tropical hops, pushing forward all the honey pomelo, lychee, mango and guava again as it befits the style, but also providing a mild but clear grapefruity bitterishness, subtle enough not to clash with the retronasal wave of exotic hop aromas. The Waimea does add a certain 'New Zealand vibe', fresh and fragrant, but the Citra and Azacca do most of the work here; the malt base is solid, soft and full enough to carry it, so that everything remains very well-structured and balanced (for style). Some very, very faint hop burn is noticeable after swallowing but disappears as soon as it came, so nobody will complain. A notably honeyish sweet element lingers as well, but more aromatically so than in a sticky or bothersome way. Your typical postmodern hazy IPA that derives its charm from a clever combo of 'hip' hops, with a very solid structure that shows no discernible flaws - I have no complaints here, even if NEIPAs like this come out of my ears after so many years of sampling them. This is, in all, a very elegant brew clearly created by people who know what they are doing - the link with vampires remains a mystery to me, though...

Panda thanks to Cloin. A mild to medium haze on this gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Smooth light palate, semi dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Light smooth pale malts, pretty sweet and creamy. Hops bring a modest cooling pine. Light but reasonably juicy citrus, getting ripe. Light smooth and semi dry finish. Quite sweet and ripe at the same time. Needs a bit of hop bite to the balance the malt sweetness.
