Sakiškės Brewery (Sakiškių Alus) in Vilnius, Vilnius County, Lithuania 🇱🇹

  Porter - Imperial Regular
Score
6.77
ABV: 8.0% IBU: 48 Ticks: 10
Ingredients: Pale ale, Chocolate, Black, Crystal malts; brown sugar; Nugget, Chinook, Columbus hops; Wyeast 1056 yeast; water.

This baby was aged in our whiskey barrels previously used for aging our imperial stout. The result is very interesting (especially if you compare those two beers). It’s 8 abv beer with a light peaty note on the nose and big wood character from the wooden cask itself. It feels like the beer has penetrated deep inside the wood and got it’s spark there instead of just sitting on the top layers, covered in Scotch.

330mL bottle, pours black with a humungous tan head. Aroma brings out light wood, toasted malt, and some whiskey. Flavour is along the same lines, with heaps of whiskey, toasted malt, and a little phenolic notes. With this much head, you can tell there's something wrong with the bottle. Needs fixing.

Tap at TCBW. Pours black. Aroma is vinous, barrel driven, roast, malt. Flavor is sweet, bitter, roast, again noticeable barrel. Finish is dry. Overall: too much barrel, not enough beer.
