Dried figs gives this refreshing dubbel a tricky, sweet aroma and amber hue that belie its clean, dry finish. Oats in the mash help build its silken body and distinguish it from traditional dubbels.

Pour is a dark murky brown with a small white head. Aroma is sweet sugar covered figs. Flavor is figs and molasses heavy malt. Not as sweet as the aroma let on. Finish leaves some dark fruit on the tongue with a hint of treacle. When having this style figs are something that comes to mind often so adding dry figs is genius.

Can.
A- Dark amber, clear, off white.
A- Mild fig, caramel, malt.
F- Malt, fig, caramel.
T- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish.
O- Could perhaps have the fig come across a bit more but overall, a nice beer. Fairly malty.

Can from Tavour. Pours clear ruddy amber with a slight, transient beige head. An ususal fruit aroma. Med plus body. Flavor is arguably fig, but not Fig Newton. Not dry, but not sticky. Not bitter. Flavor might be very light toffee with hints of fresh fig. Interesting.

3 month old can A: Poured cloudy dark orange brown with a tall fast falling tan head. S: Dry wood, sugary sweet wine like Manischewitz and toffee. T: Much like the nose but with figgy flavors and earthy hop bitterness. Fairly sweet but the dry woody aspect provides some balance. M: Surprisingly light feel with soft carbonation and powdery finish. O: Drinks a bit like wine but I enjoyed it more than I expected. Not cloying or syrupy. Worth a try.
