Draught at Oasis Pub, New London, CT, 4/27/14
Clear, filtered brass/copper body is topped by a moderate amount of off-white head that shows moderate retention.
Pure, simplistic hoppiness in the nose leans heavily to lemon-orange with very little variance/depth. Spongecake and sweet, buttercream certainly noteable on the end, with a touch of cheesiness and heavy breadiness/acidity. Fine, I guess, if a little underwhelmingly simple.
Hard, almost greasy mouthfeel with strong carbonation and sweet, bready, caramel-flavored malts give the heavy-handed hop bitterness a good balance, but taken together it’s just too much bitterness and sweetness. Very low depth of flavor, with orange rind, some grapefruit and even a fair amount of pine resin mixing with bready malts leading to way too much astringency. Pretty standard magic hat. Passable, I suppose, and certainly better than most industrial stuff, but not much of a step up, at this point.

Pour is a clear copper with a large white head. Aroma I surprisingly floral hoppy. Flavor is again a decent floral hop. Not much of a malt presence but a guess being a lager they kinda downplayed it. It’s light but definitely showcases the hops. One of Magic Hat’s better beers.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 6/2/14
Aroma: The nose is clean, light hops, citrus, grains, and some pale malts
Appearance: It pours a cloudy gold-orange color with a thin off-white head and light lace
Flavor: The taste is similar, but a touch dull, with a mix of citrus hops and pale malts
Palate: The body is light, it has an average-to-lively carbonation, and a light dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this one was a decent, light, but unoffensive offering. It drinks decently enough, and has enough flavor to be a decent session as well (though technically not low enough in ABV). Not a favorite for me, but not bad.

Office Party, Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is mild sort of nondescript hops with some citrus and meh all over. Taste is slightly bitter. Doesn’t really rise to an IPL or a strong lager in my opinion. Not enough caramel for a vienna. It really doesn’t do much in any direction.

Tap. Pours crystal clear pale amber, medium creamy off white head, nice lacing. Aroma is light, a bit of citrus and pine. Flavor is more floral, some butter, pine. Light sweet, medium bitter, rather harsh on the finish. Light plus body.

12 oz. bottle. Slightly hazy copper color with some lasting head in the lager glass. Aroma is grainy with some mild grassy hops.
Flavor is light lager yeast and grain followed by light caramel. Floral and grassy hops are found in the finish with a short abrupt bitterness. Light body with a dry texture. Not bad for a grocery store six pack but no need to go out of your way to try it. Serviceable.

Draft with a meal. Light copper-amber color. Mild hops, spicy. It was an okay beer, but nothing special. .

12oz bottle. I really like IPLs, but the addition of amber malt into this one really detracts in my opinion. The aroma is a touch fishy, with some piny cherry amber malt in the aroma. A touch off aroma-wise, not that appealing. A decent hop bite, but the overall product is sort of rancid. Has some undesirable DMS or something going on. Not so good, unimpressive.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark golden-amber color with a large creamy orange-white head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sour, tangy, fruity hops. orange, bread dough and a bit of must. The flavor was tangy and bitter with notes of orange, grapefruit, lemon and bread. Medium length finish. Medium body. Ok.
