Anbai literally means “Salty Plum” and the word is also used to describe the stat of taste and flavor. Ii Anbai means “just right”!

Hitachino Nest Anbai Ale is brewed based on the high alcohol version (7%) of the siganture beer Hitachino Nest White Ale, infused with locally grown green sour plum (ume), and finished up with a pinch of Japanese sea salt (moshio). The balance of sourness, bitterness, comes from the plum and subtle saltiness, great umami taste of the sea salt is “Ii Anbai - just right!”

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of plums, citrus fruits, hops, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of plums, citrus fruits, hops, and malt, leading to a dry finish.

Bottle at a tasting, beers courtesy of Dusan & Simona. Slightly salty, goseish, very light plum, slightly sourish funky element. Easy drinking, tasty. Good one.

33cl bottle from Uba ja Humal, Tallinn. Pours almost clear deep golden with a rather modest, dissipating, white head. Fruity, salty and slighty wheaty with lightly malty and herbal notes. Unusual combination that almost reminds me more of tkemali sauce than beer. Anyway rather tasty and interesting one.
