Anbai literally means “Salty Plum” and the word is also used to describe the stat of taste and flavor. Ii Anbai means “just right”!
Hitachino Nest Anbai Ale is brewed based on the high alcohol version (7%) of the siganture beer Hitachino Nest White Ale, infused with locally grown green sour plum (ume), and finished up with a pinch of Japanese sea salt (moshio). The balance of sourness, bitterness, comes from the plum and subtle saltiness, great umami taste of the sea salt is “Ii Anbai - just right!”

Tap sold by Maruho at Salt Valley’s Beer Zen Event. A cloudy pink orange with a thick beige head and an acidic plum flavor. Not much malts and the body is very light as well. Alright but kind of simplistic as well as more bittersour than sweetsour

Amargor considerable, y final seco y salado. Extraña y algo difícil.

A murky and yellow beer, a head is small and blond. Aroma is weird and difficult, but not bad, fruitness of plums and meat, also flowers. Taste has plums, some flowers, some harsh spicyness and sourness. Medium bodied. Very weird but interesting.

35,5 cl bottle @ Timo A. BBE 04/2018. Aroma has peaches, apricot and sweetish malt. Flavour is tart and sourish with apricot, salt and sour plums. Not my thing.

Light, sour, salty and malty but base beer is fairly weak, so unbalanced and ultimately too salty. Don’t get the dec by ratings

33cl bottle poured a murky dark gold with some fluffy, white head. Nose is cool, sour tropical fruits, start fruit and papaya, some orange, some yogurt. Flavor is really all tart tropical fruits, lychee, under ripened mango, some stone fruit too. Finishes tart, with some balancing fruit sweetness. Solid.

Bottle at Hair of the Dog, Phrom, Phong, Bangkok. Poured a slightly hazy straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is toffee caramel citrus yeast. The flavour is light sour, moderate sweet with a dry crisp yeasty buttery tropical fruit palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Keyaki fall 2016. Malt-forward nose with a touch of plum as it warms up. Lots of caramel malt with some plum in the background. Can’t find the salt under all the malt. Sweet more than tart. Feels heavy and syrupy. --- Beer merged from original tick of Hitachino Nest Anbai Ale on 18 Sep 2016 at 13:51 - Score: 6
