Dive into Obsidian, our 12% ABV Mexican hot chocolate Imperial Stout. This decadent beast brewed with organic cacao, vanilla beans, cinnamon, and a quartet of chilies – ancho, pasilla, arbol, and guajillo – yielding a unique combination of flavors. With its homage to the revered Aztec god Quetzalcoatl each sip invites you to embark on a journey through ancient Mesoamerican culture, where chocolate was revered as both a delicacy and a divine elixir.

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours black, with a nice head of brown foam, fading and never coming back. Aroma is of vanilla and chilli, plus some molasses. Body is fairly dense, with moderate carbonation. Taste is medium sweet, with a nice chilli feeling, nice and roasty. Final is fairly long, though not particularly intense.

440ml can @ final beer tasting, Chez Sophie, Aug 24. Thanks Jeremy for this! Pours dark, good deep tan head. Aroma is chocolatey. Full bodied, full chocolatey character.. really good, but expected much more of a chili presence, and more vanilla too. Fine for a big bodied stout, but lacks many of the promised elements so marked down slightly.

Monday 5th August 2024, the last Minutemat led Shrewsbury Beer Gathering, five guys, loads of beer and bollox. I brought this to the party, a 440ml can (via KWM Wines). Black pour, tanned foaming head. Chocolate flavours with a slight heat within, rich and slick, nice boozy little number, liked it.
