As Refugium Männerstolz at 7.1% ABV. Pours opaque deep brown with ruby highlights. Moderate off-white head. Low retention. Thin lacing. Dark malts on aroma. Caramel. Roast. Coffee. Chocolate. Esters and phenols stay far away (moving closer as the beer gets warmer). Bit vinous. The same picture while tasting. Light to medium body. Oily. Low to light bitterness. The review seems to be positive as I read it again. In fact this brew lacks power and smoothness that are IMO appropriate with Baltic porters.

Duft av røyk, vanilje, frukter og litt honning. Dyp sort farge. Dekkende brunt skum, noe heng langs kant. God litt fruktig smak med en anelse vanilje og mango.

0,5L bottle, BB 14.01.15. Pours very dark brown with big tan head. The head stays for some time. Aroma is dark chocolate, roast, creamy, and sweet. Taste is sweet, mild bitter, roast, alcohol, and licorice. Overall: drinkable. Alcohol is slightly too noticeable and I would prefer more body.

Bottle. Pours clear dark brown with airy light tan head. Clear aroma of roast and malt, with touches of caramel and metal. Roasty and malty flavour, with sweetish caramel notes and touches of coffee. High carbonation, perhaps too high for a beer in this style. Mildly salty finish, with touches of liquorice. Not bad.
