thing? ORAC stands for “Oxygen Radical Absorbent Capacity.” The higher the ORAC value, the better a food’s ability to protect the body from disease-causing free radicals. In a 12% beer these health benefits are obviously highly questionable!

Tap @ Nødingen. Pitch black body under a good looking, long lasting, dense, brown head. Aroma is strong, dark, roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, red fruit and warming vinous alcohol. Flavor is really smooth, soft, dark roasted malt, sweet dark chocolate, mild coffee, red fruit, dry fruit and warming alcohol. Well balanced body and long lasting aftertaste. Really nice and tasty, surprisingly easy drinkable and alcohol is dangerously well hidden. Even better than the first version IMO.

On tap at Garden Path - Bellingham, pours black with a tiny head. Aroma brings out tons of fungal mushroomy notes, light cocoa, and some dark sugars. Flavour is mushroomy, with plenty of dark sugars, a little soy sauce, and some earthy notes. Carbonation is a bit weird—flatter than it should be. It has a nice flavour profile but the palate is a bit weird.

On tap at Christian Firtal. Black with a small off-white head. Roasted aroma with toffee and licorice, smoke and an earthy note. Sweet roasted flavour with a somewhat odd smoked note.

On tap at Nødingen, Zwanze Day. A black beer with a dense finger-thick brown head. Some curtains. The aroma is sweetish, with caramel, licorice and some spiced notes, and a good dash of roasted malts. There's alcohol too, but it's not very heavy considering the ABV. It's sweet on the palate too, full-bodied and lightly warming, with a nice carbonation. Caramel sauce, caramel, licorice, roasted malts, coffee hints and some spiced notes in the flavor. Long, sweet caramel sauce finish with roasted malts. It's actually way too sweet this one, but it doesn't feel that cloying on the palate, and it tastes really delicious, so I don't care. And I like sweets. 180929
