On tap at Nøgne Ø. A dark brown to black beer with a small dark beige head. Some lacing. The aroma is roasted, boozy, cellary and fruity, dark fruits, with roasted malts, coffee, meaty juice and some mushroom notes. It's full bodied, warming and nicely carbonated. Roasted malts, brown sugar, coffee hints, dark chocolate, dark dried fruit and an earthy hint in the flavor. Lasting finish. Delicious, complex and tasteful. 221015 --- Beer merged from original tick of (collab with) Nøgne Ø Drink-Ø-Rama on 06 Sep 2024 at 16:26 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5. Can, directly from Rock City brewpub. Color; Black, thin beige head. Aroma: Roasted malt, sweetish and boozy Bourbon, coffee notes, subtle smoke. Taste: Over medium body, very low carbonation. Sweetish and boozy Bourbon, vanilla. Dark chocolate. Roasted malt and some coffee at the background. Medium sweet, moderate to over moderate bitterness. Hints of smoke. Bit sticky. Long finish. Would benefit from some more carbonation in my opinion.

330ml bottle. Opaque, quasi black colour with ruby shimmer and slightly late awakening, small, creamy, diminishing, minimally lacing, beige head. Roasty, chocolately, dark malty, slightly fruity and minimally smoky aroma, notes of dark toffee, dark chocolate, some coffee, a touch of wood ashes, some plum, plum wine. Taste is bitter, roasty and chocolately, dark malty, minimally smoky, slightly fruity and alcoholic, notes of dark toffee, dark chocolate, some coffee, a touch of wood ashes, some hop bitterness, a touch of plum, plum wine, subtle hints of liquorice, subtle sweetness; minimally warming, alcoholic finish. Oily to viscous texture, dry and simultaneously cloying palate, fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Rich and manifold but not complicated, not too heavy, fairly balanced - good but not high-end in the BalPo style.
