We used HopGain® FLOE Citrulicious for the whirpool addition then HopBurst® Citrulicious and HopBurst® Nectaron cold side before dialling in the bitterness with HopAlpha® NISO. Black IPA is a style we love to brew and one that's perfect for the selected hops, bringing top notes of citrus and peach. Unfined and vegan friendly *waves*. Serve cold in your favourite glass.

440ml can. Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma of grapefruit, peach, dark malts. Taste is fruity at first, peaches and grapefruit, dark malts and a little chocolate, roast, perhaps a touch of liquorice, light piney bitterness, tangy. Medium bodied. Very decent.

Gravity cask at the 33rd Ealing Beer Festival, 12/07/24. Black with a tan head that thins to a swirl and edgeing. Nose is dark malts, tangy fruits, earthy notes, liquorice, pine nip. Taste comprises cocoa sprinkle, dark malts, light charr, dried red berries, pine needle, more tangy fruit esters. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close spiked with earthy hop bitterness. Had hoped for more with a CDA from Elusive ... just a touch overly tangy and raw.

Cask at The Ealing Beer Festival 2024, Ealing, London. A dark brown coloured pour with a healthy beige bubbly head on top. Roasty, malty, fruity, bitter taste and aroma. Rather harsh and unbalanced, not great.

440ml can as part of a delivery from the brewery and drunk at home. Very dark brown, opaque, a tiny ring of beige head. Big piney aroma, dark malts, a little liquorice. Taste is sweet with liquorice and treacle, more pine resin, brown sugar. Bitterness near the finish. Light body with low carbonation. A real winner.

Can at home from Elusive, 7th July 24. Pours a light beer, and dark brown black in colour. Aroma is cocoa and roasted malts, taste is a little lacking, light aromatic, light roasted malts, cocoa, fine, but lacking some punch

Can ordered from the brewery. Aroma is relatively low key. Coffee. Berries. Polite. Hazy cola brown. Creamy off-white soon recedes. Tangy berries, coffee bitterness and cacao. Develops fruity sweetness and hints of resin. Getting a burnt element into the finish. Fine but a tad too fruity in terms of balance for me.
