Our second Crimes Against Brewing variant is a Double Pastry Stout with Coffee, Caramel and Almond.

Amongst the many crimes against brewing, this blend of rich coffee, sweet caramel, and gently woody almond is not one of them. This double pastry stout is tasty and warming, and beer can still taste of beer, but it doesn't have to.

Can at craft beer junction bermondsey tasting. Many thanks. A thick black brown coloured pour with a halo of tan head. Aroma is spicy salty roast, liquorice, burnt cake, brandy snap sugars. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, coconut, chocolate vanilla, cakey malts, oily, perfume. Palate is semi sweet, light tang, massaging carbonation. Good.

Craft Beer Junction bottle share. Thanks to Cloin for the can. Almost opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Airy palate, semi dry palate, decent fine carbonation. Thinnish dark malts, but decent dark chocolate. Big big Almond. Not sure what else is supposed to be here but fine for what it is.

440ml can @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Nov 23. Thanks to Simon I think for this. Pours a deep dark brown, beige head. Immediate whiff of almond with additional mocha, amber malt, caramel. All elements present themselves to taste with a strong almond presence overall, interesting.

Draft at Bottle and Barrel, Aberystwyth. Poured almost black in colour with a mostly lasting frothy, off-white head. The aroma is big coffee and caramel. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, rich, slightly oily, roasty, marzipan, chocolate, coffee, light liqourice bitter palate. Full bodied with soft carbonation.
