Gajes - Awarded 'Best beer of the Netherlands 2016' in the Dutch Beer Challenge.
Gajes (Dutch slang for scum) is a heavily dry hopped tripel.
We used a very neutral top fermenting yeast strain that produces a clean balanced beer with a smooth malty sweetness.
Three additions of bright floral hops build to a crisp-citrus-bitter crescendo (a gradual, steady increase in force).
A liquid poem to the glory of the hop", utterly deserving of its name and a craft beer you won't soon forget.

On tap at Tilt, Utrecht, Saturday 22nd September 2018 (Borefts weekend) Pours warm gold with a white haze, a large white head sits proudly atop. A little vanilla and spicy yeast on the nose. In the mouth, fruity but with a dose of sweetness. Hoppy but the American C hops are a little subdued with the more modest hoppiness of the European hops winning out. Taken as a whole this is marginally better than the sum of its parts. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.4

Draught, beer flight, at Tap Zuid. Close-to-clear warm golden body, rich lacing, film-type layer at the top. Rather inviting smell of herbal hops, citrus and mid-sweet malts. Rounded hop fruity taste, moments of peaches and orange, lightly spiced. Mid-sweet malt-fruity finish. Soft and smooth in the mouth. Well hidden alcohol. Nice. (Amsterdam 08.03.2018).

Hazy golden colour with thin lacy head. Some citrus pith in the aroma and honey notes too. Interestingly there's a lot of hop flavour but it seems skunky and flat. Aftertaste has a lot of bitter hop oils.

Bottle @ Pikoteo, Amsterdam. Cloudy light amber color. Big dense off white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma's of sweet fruit and bready malts. Also a bit alcoholic retronasal. Flavor is moderate sweet, caramellish, light bitter. Medium bodied. Long finish with caramel and moderate bitterness.

From a bottle at restaurant Bureau (with Pieter and Nico). Nice aroma, good color, taste is like a tripel should be, but last not very long. Alright beer.
