Black Shuck is a deep ebony, traditional stout with a complex tapestry of malt flavours ranging from bittersweet chocolate through roasty dark coffee, with a silky smooth mouthfeel. The Phoenix hops lend floral and slightly spicy notes, while also complementing the malt bill with further hints of chocolate and molasses.

Can. Nose is earthy, dark malt, toast, hint of coffee and roast. Taste is toast, hint of smoke, umami, almost salty burnt toast, and an ash finish. Slightly thin body.

I really love the nose. Simple but incredibly evocative

(Cask at Cask Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico, London, 12 May 2024) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, chocolate and liquorice. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice, black bread and a balanced roasty bitterness in the finish. Tasty and well balanced stout. Nice one.

Oldham Beer Festival 2024. Black in colour. Regular stout, feeling quite easy with its strength but not understated.
