To celebrate the Munich Beer Festival, we brewed a beer in the style of the German Festbier, which is drunk at the famous Oktoberfest festival. We chose German Hallertauer Mittelfrüh hops, which bring a pleasant herbal aroma, and German malts then add a nice grainy and smooth base.

Can via Pivny raj. Rather thin body, medium carbonation. Med-light bready, toasted, a bit honeyish malt character. Medium bitterness, but with a bit of a sharp edge. Med-light sourish fermentative character, evocative of old school lagers. Maybe this is what gives it the edge. Either way, it is not unpleasant. Moderate grassy, flowery hops character, with a bit of berry fruitiness. Quite easy drinking indeed, pretty good.

Can 50cl.@home poured into a shaker. Slightly hazy pale golden colour, small off-white fizzy head, completely diminishing within seconds, almost no lacing. Aroma lager malt, light toasted, bready, honey, herbal notes. Taste medium sweet and slightly bitter, malty, grainy, honey, herbal notes. Medium body, oily texture, flat carbonation, smooth sweetand a bit bitter aftertaste, easy to drink but fails to impress, okay.

Can. I love the season of festbiers. All these malty, medium or full bodied biers is what I always appreciate on cold autumn days. And this was no different. I like it. Maybe less diacetyl on nose.

Tap at NaPalmě, September 1st. Hazy golden body, lasting off-white head. Sweetish aroma, floral hoppiness, honeyish maltiness, okay really. Smooth, honeyish and floral taste, more full than expected, too full and sweet even, which, for me, at that point, lowered its drinkability a fair bit, which I didn't appreciate that much. Just slightly more dried out this would be great, an excellent take, but I couldn't finish it like this at that point of the day, so... it was quite a bit less excellent for me.
