Monthly Beer Share, Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury; 29th July 2019. 750ml cork and capped bottle, still young (bottled in Jan 2019). Brought along by Mike to celebrate his 5,000th untappd entry, cheers Mike. Wispy off-white head on a misty amber body, yeasty and off-flavours dominate the aroma and taste, why does the rest of the table go 'wild' for these type of beers while I just 'soldier through' and try to find something pleasant in a 'Sour Puss' beer?

75cl bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie July 19, thanks Mike for this your 5000th Untappd checkin! Deep hazed amber appearance, patchy off-white topping. Aroma is wondrous, wild, complex. Taste continues on the complexities, good clarity of flavours, nice sweet wild sour flavours, a little yeasty, smooth, all the barrel aging contributions there to enjoy. Very very good indeed.

Bottle. Beer Ritz, Leeds. Also multiple pours, courtesy of the brewer. Label states 8%. Copper colour. Soft haze. Thin, super dense, lasting, just off white head. Nose is so complex, it’s hard to know where to start. Lots of red and white wine. Baked apple. Oak. Fresh stone fruit. Alpine strawberry. Vanilla. Touch of green peppercorn. Cider apple lolly. Hint of aged balsamic. Wow. Taste is similarly complex. Tart, vinous, oaky, vanilla sweetness all rolled up. Decent leafy hop bitterness here, too. Medium body. Silky and slick. Fine carbonation. Fleeting Flanders acidity. Juicy and lightly tart, vine fruit finish. It’s all here.

Keg at the bottle shop druid Street. A light hazed deep orange light red coloured pour with no head. Aroma is spicy, dry funk, woody cherry pips, gooseberry, leather. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, white grape, wood, leather, cherry, funky red grape. Palate is semi sweet, woody tannin, mellow tart, mellow carbonation. Really nice.
