't Swaart van Cabeliau is een sterk ongefilterd bier. Met vier mouten, oranjeschillen, koriander en de passie van de brouwer. Een stevig speciaalbier zoals de naam doet vermoeden met complexe smaaktonen: subtiel kruidig en een beetje fruitig. En met, net als de voorgaande bieren van Brouwerij de Die, een historisch Alkmaars verhaal erachter.

Het Alkmaarse speciaalbier is vernoemd naar Jacobus Cabeliau, bevelvoerder van Alkmaar in 1573. Cabeliau of Cabeljauw, kreeg als dank voor zijn diensten voor de stad Alkmaar een zwaard aangeboden. Dit zwaard bevindt zich in het Rijksmuseum te Amsterdam, en een replica is te zien in het Stadhuis van Alkmaar.

Met een alcoholpercentage van 8,0% is dit een stevig najaarsbier.

Bottle at home, red-ish amber beer, small head. Aroma is malt, herbal, citrus. Taste is the same, quite some malt, light yeast, bitter, sweet. ok

Fles 33cl in Terherne. Fruitig, licht koolzuur, caramel, licht boozy, beetje brandy, koriander, kruidig, sinaasappelschil, zoet. (3-9-2020).

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Bierwinkel Alkmaar. Clear amber with a thin white head. Coriander aroma with orange and some malty caramel. Taste is sweet and a bit spicy. Too low on carbonation I think. This coupled with the sweetness makes it a bit cloying and does not invite to take another sip. Mediocre.

Bottle shared thanks to Deanso. Direct from bottle. Aroma of big herbs, yeast, malt and caramel. Flavour is above moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

Bottle. Color: Clear amber, off-white head. Aroma: Malty, white sugar, herbal and orange zest hints. Taste: Medium sweet, malty, toast, yeasty and herbal notes of coriander, hints of caramel and orange zest. Some white sugar and some more orange zest at finish. Light to moderate bitterness. Medium body, average carbonation. Bit sticky mouthfeel.

Bottle or draught @ NHBF '18. Murky amber color. Off white head. Aroma: sweet, coriander. Retronasal the same, herbal. Flavor is sweet, herbal. Medium bodied. More coriander in the finish.

Sampled at NHBF'18. Amber colour, white head. Aroma is floral, coriander seed, hint of swamp or trash can, light malty. Flavour is sweet, malty, floral, spicy, swamp, bitter finish. Medium bodied.
