18 began life as an Imperial Brown Ale before we bombarded it with Scottish tayberries and purple raspberries and locked it away in rum barrels for two years, infusing rich dark fruit flavours and oaky warmth into the mix.
In a 21st century tribute to the ancient London tradition of blending stock and young ales, we then carefully blended it with a fresh & hoppy batch of specially brewed Black Ale, adding a burst of blackcurrant and citrus to this complex Imperial Brown.

Dark brown body, with a small, creamy, beige head.
Aroma of rum barrel, lots of berries, booze, dried fruits, chocolate.
Quite boozy taste, with berries, sweet chocolate, rum, cocoa powder, some dried fruits, coffee.
Full, quite creamy mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes warm, quite boozy, fruity, with cocoa and some barrel notes.
Very tasty. Comfortable and warm, with a really enjoyable combination of rum barrel, chocolate and lots of berries. Quite boozy, but not too overpowering. Great, unique beer.

bottle at home from trade with Sebilinz, many thanks Erich. almost black color, very small tan head. smells liqueurish, rum, dried fruits, raisins, wood, alcoholic, vanilla, coconut, coffee roast, some bitter chocolate. quite nice smell a tad too boozy though. full body, soft carbonation, full oily mouthfeel. taste of raisins, some (light warming) alcohol, dried fruits, some berries, rum / liqueurish, coffee. alcoholic / dried fruity finish. very nice one. alcohol is a bit too present, this probably benefits of some aging.

Botle # 6240 of 12100. It pours darkest brown with a decent bubby light tan head. The nose is soft, rich malty action, toffee, bread & butter pudding, raisin, chocolate, wood, liquorice and jammy berry as it warms. The taste is bitter-sweet, smooth roast, chocolate, toffee, brown bread, chocolate-covered coffee beans, coffee cake, dried fruits, fruit cake, some tart fresh berry, light tang, jam, light spice, mild cola and wood with a smooth, toasty finish. Full body, fine carbonation and slick mouth-feel. Quite a lot going on, but rather well-integrated. The berry aspect does lift it up a bit. A touch sweet for my tastes perhaps, but enjoyable anyhow.

375mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a medium beige head. Nose brings out very hot booziness, like whiskey, with berry sweetness and tartness under there. Flavour is like that of a liqueur, with boozy hot berry-like liqueur with a lush chocolatey sweetness permeating throughout. Really difficult to drink as a beer, as this is super boozy and extreme, but it might work well as a liqueur in very small quantities. Good for what it is, but I can't drink more than a couple of ounces of this before getting fatigued from this one.
