Proper Job is an authentic IPA brewed with Cornish spring water and malt made from a blend of malts including Cornish grown Maris Otter barley.
Proper Job is dedicated to the 32nd (Cornwall) Regiment who stoutly defended their garrison during the Indian Mutiny in 1857-58. Throughout
the siege the traditional "Sunset Ceremony" (beating the retreat and lowering the national flag) was ignored as an act of defiance to the mutineers. In recognition of a "Proper Job" Queen Victoria awarded the 32nd the honour.

Cask ale by gravity at Dolphin Hotel. Naked surface, dotted spots on the glass, clear copper coloured body. Rich brown malty aroma joined by fruity hops. Caramel flavours, nicely roasted, supported by dark fruit and leafy hops towards the ending. Natural soft carbonated. Good beer drinking (Plymouth 22.09.2016).

Tap at Samo Pivo pub in Belgrade-Serbia. It was on tap and I think I should rate under cask rather than bottle (?). Semi-clear deep golden pour, tick creamy foam. Nose: pungent notes of lime, lemon skin, tons of lemon grass and some herb (oregano). Mouth: frizzy carbonation close to prosecco, a bit sessional (watery) with an even more frizzy mineral pepper-like finish (and bitter too). ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask at The Emperor, Farnham Common, Buckinghamshire. Pours a clear golden/copper colour with a small white head. Aroma of floral hop, malt, caramel, and a fruity edge. Medium sweetness and light bitterness. Medium body, texture is creamy/slightly oily, perfect level of carbonation. Finish is crisp, with a lasting sweetness.

Cask at the Victoria Inn, Salcombe, 28/04/16. Clear golden blonde with a well appointed off White head that stays for the show. Nose is pale malt, light floral hop, toasted grain, lemon rind. Taste comprises tangerine, soft bread, grain, lemon jus, straw. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with grassy hop bitterness. Ok sessioner but more akin to a golden blonde than an APA.

Cask at the Empress, Cambridge. Dark gold, clear. Soft ring of white head. Light aroma of spruce and tropical fruit. Bittersweet but slightly unbalanced taste. Finish is bitter without the flavour to back it up. Not great for an APA.
