Bottle shared during RBESG. Hazy opaque red brownish color, small beige head. Smell and taste malts, heavy peat, light to moderately bitter, a hint of dark chocolate, tar. Average to medium body, lightly oily texture.

Bottle - Lots of Whisky and barrel notes. Murky dark brown with a decent beige head. Sweet malts with the barrel and Whisky dominating, too a little heat in the back of your throat. Very heavy with Whisky, but nice.

Nose is very strong, leather, petrol, oak, brown sugar. It’s intense, but not to my taste. Taste is biscuit, toffee, some smoke, leather, slight peat and sugars from the whiskey barrel. Mouthfeel is unpleasantly slick. This never really got going and I didn’t particularly enjoy, the sweetness of the whiskey was a little off putting.

Bottle shared at CBC - Clerkenwell, London - generously given to me for my 25th birthday by Canterbury homer Ian. Pours clearish ruby with a fine, beige cream head. Ripe fruit nose, berries, plums, dates. Big sweet flavor, big apple sauce character, some sugary malts. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, somewhat sticky, with more apple sauce, light spices, other ripe fruits, berries. Sweet but decent.

50 cl bottle. Pours dark brown, clear, and with a small tan head. Aroma is spiced, herbal and hoppy fruity. Smooth, light citrusy, sweet and light toasted malty. Smooth fruity and mellow into the finish.

Bottled. A dark amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of caramel, malt, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, alcohol, malt, and a bit of yeast, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

Bottle @ Papsø. A bit hazy, reddish orange appearance with a tan head. Some alcohol legs. Very rich caramel, brown sugar, kind of syrupy, woody aroma. A little cloying, thick caramel, burnt sugar, dark fruit, raisin, plum flavor. A little cloying and rich but drinkable.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours an almost clear dark amber with a creamy off-white head. Nose has caramel and some phenols. Medium body, caramel and ashes with a subtle oaky twist. Hardly any hops but the alcohol really kicks in toward the finish. 140712

Bottle (thanks to Ian) at Chriso’s Easter tasting 2012. It pours deep amber-brown, with a thin beige head. The nose is toffee, dark fruit - plum, prune, blueberry and honey. The taste is cherry, prune, plum, jam, golden syrup, caramel, coffee, cola cubes, wood and some alcohol warmth. Medium body and low carbonation. Perhaps a touch too sweet, but good all-round.
