Bottle. Raisin/dried cherry, caramel malt and alcohol aroma. Dark chestnut brown with small but long lasting light tan head. Very sweet vanilla, raisin, caramel, biscuit malt, and bourbon flavor. Nice balance and body. A bit on the sweet side but still very nice - will let the rest age for a while.

Caramel pour with minimal head. Toffee, maple syrup, vanilla, dark fruits in the lovely aroma. Full bodied. Delicious. Melted caramel, vanilla, oak, ripe fruit, sweet malt, and a bit of booze. The booze is mostly hidden and only accentuates the profile. Fantastic Scotch ale.

Tap at Torst, Brooklyn. Toffeish vanilla aroma. Medium to full bodied. Lots of vanilla from bourbon barrel. Toffeish malty flavor. Liquerish palate. Hides alcohol very well without being overly sweet. Not the most complex barrel beer but good.

Bottle courtesy of Winter Santa 2014/2015. Thank you RobertDale! Pours deep dark wooden brown with a rather small creamy beige head that leaves some trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet and malty with caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood, roasted coconut, bourbon alcohol and moist soil. Taste is sweet, tiny bitter, malty and very tiny fruity with sweet dark bread, caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, raisin bran, charred wood, moist soil, prunes, caramelised almonds, roasted coconut, baked pears, bourbon alcohol and orange zest. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny viscous, slightly boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and tiny bitter with caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, raisin bran, charred wood, baked pears, roasted coconut, hay and bourbon alcohol. The label says it was made for bourbon ageing and I agree. Basically a nice malt base and base beer with a huge barrel presence. What a nice decadent way to start off the new year!

Bottle from a trade. Thanks! Brown colour, minimal beige head. Medium carbonation. Aroma of caramel, vanilla, marzipan and lots of bourbon. Sweet with light bitterness. Malty body. Ok, but a bit too sweet.

Bottle thanks to fishmich! Pours clear ruby mahogany with a small tan head that dissipates fairly quickly to a ring with some lacing. Aroma is bourbon, dark sugars, vanilla. Flavor is bourbon, oaky vanilla, medium sweet, light bitter and fairly tannic. Lightish body, low carbonation, some ABV burn, but not bad for 12%

Bottle via trade with JStax – thanks! Dark brown and light mahogany in color, a thin beige head fizzes out before my first sip. The nose on this dog is outstanding! Bourbon, vanilla, caramel, and chocolate swirl together. Nice symmetry… and rich. Not hard to score this a 10. Not hard at all. Good transition to the taste; the same aforementioned blend along with light esters and butter toffee. Maybe a hint of oak. The finish isn’t heated, but the high abv is easily detected. I wish it weren’t so potent, but I guess as a sipper it doesn’t really make that a negative. I’m really impressed with this; it hits nearly every mark for me.

Clear dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Complex aroma; bourbon, brown sugar, raisin. The flavor follows the aroma, The bourbon is nice not under or over done. Nice Scotch ale.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks Ariel. Deep amber to brown. Lovely aroma of bourbon, vanilla, malt, caramel, some cookies and a bit of chocolate. Sweet flavor, a bit boozy, with bourbon, vanilla and cookies. Full-bodied, rounded chewy mouthfeel. Very good.
