A black beer with a brown head. Aroma of strong dark roasted malt, wood, spirits, dark fruits. Taste of chocolate, coffee, strong dark roasted malt, dark fruits, wood, thick mouthfeel.

330ml bottle, erupting at the slowest possible speed. Aroma of cocoa, brandy, treacle. Taste is sweet, lots of cocoa and brandy, missing the vanilla and butterscotch/fudge I was looking forward to, warming alcohol, perhaps a touch of soy sauce. Medium bodied. Not bad, but certainly not their finest stout.

Bottle from Prost! bottle shop, The Wirral. Jet black pour with a tan head. Nose is sweet spice, dark chocolate, apple strudel, burnt sugars. Rich taste of dark roast coffee, liquorice toffee, butterscotch, jammy dark fruits, more apple strudel. Long lingering alcohol burn. Robust sweet & lightly smoky finish. A noble brew

Panda thanks to Cloin. Opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Airy palate, decent fine carbonation. Slightly powdery dark chocolate malts, soon smooths out into dark chocolate Malteasers. The apple brandy is surprisingly bright apple and only modestly brandy. Light and soft vanilla oak underneath. A mild alcohol spice as it comes to a soft finish. Nice ba Impy, a little off the beaten track.

Bottle at home, from HOTM online, 16/10/24. Black topped with a tan head. Nose is dark chocolate, dark malts, spice, dried fruit rinds, molasses. Taste comprises chocolate, spice, mellow roast, molasses, subtle barrel, dark fruit rinds. Full bodied, fine massaging carbonation, semi drying close splashed with a mellow spike of alcohol. Sips easy for an impy stout but lacks a little depth of flavour and barrel composition.

Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is chocolate, caramel, vanilla, apple, meaty, taste is similar, a little thin and boozy.
