(Draft at Akkurat, Stockholm, 11 May 2025) Golden colour with brief, white head. Fruity nose with notes of citrus, peaches, oak wood, vinegar and a touch of bourbon. Fruity, tart taste with oak wood, citrus, peaches, elderflower and a touch of bourbon. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tart, rich and tasty. Very nice.

Keg at Akkurat, Stockholm. Almost clear deep golden, small head. Citric nose with mild horseblanket and heavy cognac. Tart with some cognc sweetness. Citric with slight vanilla and pleasant funk. Mid bitter finish. Not the most complex lambic, but lovely flavour.

375mL bottle at the International Geuze & Kriek festival. Pours hazy blonde with a white head. Tons of cognac on the nose. Flavour has a fuckton of cognac, sugars from the bourbon, gentle sourness. Not well done.

375mL bottle at International Geuze & Kriek Festival 2025, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Nose is somewhat of a confused mess and leathery earthiness. Flavour is a little better, with apple notes (from the cognac?), light leather, not much funk, soft citrus. Not very deep but fairly pleasant.

Another of these interesting Angerik lambics under the Cuvée Kluysbosch brand, coming from stylish champagne-like bottles with classy label – in this case at 37,5 cl rather than the 75 cl from the beginning. This one is just blended lambic that has partially aged on cognac and partially on bourbon, shared with tderoeck. Off-white, medium thick, stable head lacing in dots and shreds over a misty brownish-tinged (oxidized!) amberish-peach blonde robe. Aroma of sour orange, dusty old book shelves, old oak furniture, green plum, indeed sweet bourbon and cognac piercing through (the first more prominent than the latter), sour grapes, old leather, aged Pecorino Romano, dried mushroom, dusty attic, persimmon. Tart, estery onset, sour plum, gooseberry, unripe peach and persimmon but with this grapey sweetish note hidden within, probably coming from the bourbon and cognac; moderate carbonation, vinous mouthfeel, drying lactic acidity (kefir-ish) with a rather ‘dried’-fruity effect, sour orange and sour grape associations lingering along with wild autumn apple and plum, while woodiness grows and provides a deep, noble, tannic, rustic effect. Again both the bourbon and the cognac provide a sweeter element in all this dryness, increasing drinkability but remaining well integrated without clashing with any of the beer’s natural flavours. Quite sophisticated, vinous, tasty and original lambic – this Kluysbosch series has not disappointed so far, strange that it does not get a lot more attention in the (revived) lambic world, actually…

375ml bottle pour @ Poperinge Bier Festival 2024. Pours a misty gold, white head. Indistinct barrel-aged sweetness on the nose, bourbon comes through strong to taste, with a welcome lambic acidity cutting through, complimented by a soft cognac sweetness on the finish. Very good.
