Smooth roasted malts and hints of cherry lead into toasted cocoa nibs and freshly baked chocolate cake. A complex, layered and delicious strong stout brewed in 2022, then aged in rum casks for a rich edge of molasses to finish.

Can from Drinkmonger. Black body with no head or lacing. Low carbonation. Aroma of brown sugar and liquorice. Flavour of roasted malt and bitter dark chocolate. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. I wanted to love this but I found it to be lacking the anticipated complexity. It’s still very tasty and well balanced for a 10.5% ABV beer.

Keg @ Tap and Can. Pours dark, beige head. Aroma suggests a rich flavour profile, dark malt, vague liquorice, roast. Continues to taste, moderately rich with a nice boozy bite, not a massive rum influence though it is there, and nothing overly shouty about it. Just a solid strong stout.

Can thanks to Stuu666. Appearance - opaque mat black. Foamy tan to beige head. Nose - definitely chocolate cake, then molasses and sultana. Taste - cacao nibs, chocolate cake and cherry lurking somewhere in the back. Palate - medium bodied, sweet and creamy middle. Sweet but fairly elegant finish. Overall - good.

The aroma is dark roasted malt, pretty decadent, deep chocolate character, rocky road, jammy fruits, vanilla, toasted marshmallow, heady notes of rum, rum soaked oak, dark & dried fruits, toasted fruit cake, blueberry, raisin, sultana and some salty liquorice. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, rich roasted malt, dark, decadent, slick, toasted brown sugar, good hit of rum, rum soaked oak, dark / dried fruits, toasted fruit cake, vanilla, toasted coconut, burnt toast, chewy, toothy, tannin and sine warming booze with a drying, cacao nib finish.
