(bottle, 33cl) Clear, deep golden colour with a medium-sized off-white foamy head. Fruity and herbal, even a bit piney hoppy aroma on a slightly cara-malty background. Mildly bitter and delicately sweet flavour, light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Soft cara-malty base with fruity (grapefruit) and slightly piney hops, leading into a dry and moderately bitter and slightly fruity finish. Slim but aromatic and easy-going. 25.XII.11

33 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 28.05.2011
Aroma has hops with flowery notes. Also some grainy malt, toffee, caramel and hints of ash. Flavour has flowery hops, toffee and somewhat harsh grainy malt. Still rather refreshing stuff.

Flaske 0,33l fra Kilpishalli. Gyldenbrun. Høyt luftig skum som varer en stund. God krydret aroma med innslag av frukt. Lite kullsyre. Litt tam smak: Svakt fruktig. Forsiktig syrlig ettersmak. Tørr fruktig avslutning.

(Draught at London City Airport, 27 Nov 2011) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with orange, apricots and toasty malt. Fruity, malty taste with notes of orange, apricots, toast and a fairly mild citric bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Well balanced and tasty. Quite enjoyable.

Thanks to Finn H. for sharing a 330ml bottle. Bright amber body, low, white layer at the top. Dry fruity aroma. Taste of fruity hops added by honey sweetness. Mild and fresh, bittersweet finish. Just alright without further excitements (Tromsø, 18.12.2011).

Bottle at a cafe at the Tower. They acually had 3 different Meantime beers. Ok for turist place. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate. Tastes more like a golden ale than a premium lager.

Orangey amber with a medium off-white head. Light caramel honey, mild grapefruit, stone fruits, blossoms, hints of earthy spices. Taste has mainly fruit sweetness and some drying bitterness, but it’s really the slight sour note that stands out for me. Finishes with fruity bitterness. Stylistically this is well-travelled: it’s a very English take on the American take on pale ale. Most of the flavours are American but the texture is both a little watery and faintly buttery. It thus misses out on both the cleanness of US malts and the murky sophistication of English ones. But it has character and is certainly highly sessionable.
