Highly sought-after by connoisseurs, Houblon CHOUFFE is a strong beer - 9% alc./vol., with a bitter and fruity taste. To recreate the bitterness of IPAs, we add three types of hops to our brews: Tomahawk, Saaz and Amarillo. Houblon CHOUFFE is the first Belgian IPA. Taste this magnificent beer and you can appreciate its subtle grapefruit note. This beer is also extremely popular as an ingredient in culinary dishes.

Bottle from ASDA in Watford, Herts. A golden/yellow coloured pour with a huge white head on top. Hoppy, fruity, grassy, yeasty, spice. Quite dry and bitter. Decent, not had their IPA for many years.

Been a long time since I've had their IPA. It pours clear yellow with a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is fragrant and perfumed, banana candy, pear, melon, nougat, cereal and some spice. The taste is firmly dry, pleasing nip of booze, good hit of bitterness, grassy, leafy, toasty spice, prickly, estery fruits, pear, candied melon, touch of icing sugar, nougat and fragrant florals with a boozy, drying finish. Medium body and moderate+ foamy carbonation. My original rating was very low. Either his has improved over time and/or my tastes have (probably the latter). Rather decent Belgian IPA.

Bottle from Waitrose. Hazy golden body with a white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of vine tomato a grapefruit peel. Flavour of lemon and tangy yeast. Medium body with a slick texture. Very fizzy. Clean and hoppy and very easy to drink for a 9% ABV hoppy beer.

Bottle from Asda in Luton of all places. Still trying to clear out stocks before the excesses of December and this one had to go. Good pour, fruity aroma, but the taste is something different. Its fruity, really fruity. Not hops fruity, but peaches and nectarines- real fruit. Not fake or flavouring but real fruit. It was actually pretty good, particularly as I normally despise fruit beers. And really well balanced .
