Our signature Parabola imperial stout achieves new heights in this limited small-batch release.The story of this beer began when we aged it in an equal selection of rare older-stock barrels from premium spirits producers - specifically 14 year Old Fitzgerald bourbon barrels and 18 year Sazerac rye whiskey barrels. These barrels complemented Parabola's classic dark chocolate, cherry and vanilla flavors by imparting hints of stone fruits, fudge, leather and peppery spice. Additionally, we aged the beer for a full two years prior to blending and bottling, cultivating an ultra-smooth mouthfeel fo this prodigiously flavorful beer.

12 oz bottle I picked up at the FW Brewery Store. Nose is chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, with hints of cherry and licorice. Black with a medium, lightly lacing, cinnamon tan head. Flavor is chocolate, vanilla, char, and a little black peppery heat!

Bottle from the brewery. Pours dark brn/blk with a creamy tan head. Aroma of smooth toasted malt with nice bourbon aspects. Full bodied. Not dry. Not sticky tho. Burnt malt/heat for bitter. Heat appears strongly down below. Nice bourbon, some oak astringency, something very, very lightly suggesting anise. Some chocolate well into the brew. Quite tasty.

Can from the BA Big Stout box. Inky black color with a huge tan head that shows decent retention. Sweet bourbon nose with roast and chocolate behind it. Really great sipper!

Bottle from the brewery. Pours dark brn/blk with a small tan head that wasn't long lasting. Aroma of chocolate fudge and rye. Very full bodied. Flavor of chocolate fudge, rye, bourbon, vanilla and wood notes indicating non-fresh oak. Not dry. Not sticky. Heat is clearly present. Bitterness from heat and the impact of whiskeys substitutes for hop bitter. Good feeling in the mouth. Great flavor - not all that complex, but complex enough to have to think about.
