This smoky, powerfully hopped India Black Ale was developed by Farr Brew exclusively for Britain’s oldest pub - Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, St. Albans.

Brewed with three types of malt and a considered combination of homegrown British & imported American hops for a well rounded, punchy flavour.

Cask at GBBF ‘19, day 3, 08/08/19. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a decent lasting tan head. Nose is dried fruits, toffee, trace of pine. Taste comprises toffee, spice, dark malts, hint of weed, leather, red berry skins, cocoa sprinkle. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying close kissed with earthy hop bitterness. Not bad.

Fra cask på GBBF aug-19: brunsvart med ok bobleskum. Lakris, kaffe, tanniner og hint av furunål. Fairly forgettable.

GBBF Day 3. Cask. Hazy deep amber beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth and mildly tangy malts. Modest smooth pine. Touch of dark fruits. Light finish. Okay.

ABV: 4.5%. Clear dark brown colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark malt, light roasted - toasted. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, dark malt, fruity hops, medium dry, woody - smoky notes. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. Bottle from Beer: Store, Hitchin. Clear brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, roasted malt and light hoppy. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. 120219

Bottle @ Beer:Store, Hitchin. Nice head with good duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are roast malt, caramel, notes of chocolate and little hops.

28/9/2018. Cask at the St Albans Beer & Cider Festival 2018. Pours dark chestnut brown with a small bubbly off-white head. Aroma of hops, fruit, malt, chocolate, toffee, hint of berries and ash. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation.

Cask-conditioned, at the Seven Stars, Bristol, 4/10/2017. Near black in colour, with a thin, off-white, head. Leafy hops, some chocolate, berry fruits and bready malts, before a moderately dry finish. Fine.

Cask gravity at the St Albans BEER festival 2016. A hazed chestnut brown reddy coloured pour with a halo of off white head. Aroma is woody sticky jam, strawberry, toasted malts, nutty, . Flavour is composed of woody piney hop, toasted nuts, strawberry, jammy, grainy dry wood. Palate is semi sweet, sticky, resin, moderate condition . Grainy and a dry finish. Not bad.
