Inspired by the brewing monks of Belgium, this strong dark abbey ale was brewed with dark caramelized Belgian Candi Sugar syrup and a special yeast strain from a Trappist Monastery at the Propagator. We then aged it in California brandy barrels, adding toasted oak, vanilla, and caramel layers to the already expressive profile of bananas foster, apple fritter, and caramelized sugar.

2023 editie, niet dat er tot nu toe een sndere (gebottelde) bestaat, maar goed. Na openen wil het schuim wil graag het flesje uit, maar het is ook geen spuiter. Diep roodbruine kleur en een fijne beige kraag waar een laagje van overblijft. Geur: veel fruit, brandy, wat zoetigheid, iets boozy. In de mond is het zoetig, boozy, houtig, fruit. Smaak is vrij zoet en iets bitter. Mondgevoel is een tikje droog, ws door de tannines. Lekker warmend. Medium body. Afdronk is iets bitter en houtig.

Bottle at home. Dark brown color, medium to full sized beige head. Aroma is malts, light caramel, light booze. Flavor is malts, caramel, malt bitters, somewhat boozy, slightly sweet in the background, but mostly bitter with brandy. Medium to full body, decent to medium carbonation. Quite like this one.

Viisakas magus-karamelline-alkone-linnaseline-kuiv õlu. Pole seda belgia pärmi räpasust mis on paljudel mitte munakde quadidel... Firestone ikka oskab.

Bottle from an order with Beer Republic webshop Breda Netherlands and consumed at home Wednesday 17th April 2024 listening to ByteFM and then watching Kleo on Netflix. We had a Nigella Lawson Brussels and Pasta meal for tea. I forgot to take much notice of the appearance as I was quite engrossed watching Kleo, but I think that it was brown of some type with an off white head. Lots on the nose, of course brandy but with dried fruits, malty, molasses, yeasty oaky (vanilla). These aromas are also replicated in the mouth, it's smooth a little bit boozy, some warmth, toffee also. Excellent beer.

Capped 375 from the brewery. Pours clear dark brown with a transient tan head. Aroma of brandy, toffeeish malt, and perhaps yeast. Full bodied. Flavor is brandy and toffee with some oak astringency, and perhaps a touch of banana. Spice a little bit. Definitely some heat. Not sticky. Good flavor.

I’m on big of holiday so go big during lunch here. Ruby brown pour. Nose is cherry and fig. Tastes of dried fruits, molasses, herbal and booze. Quite enjoyed.
