sparkling cider from a very cool bitter sharp apple, Stoke Red

Stoke Red, for its sheer joyful vibrancy, may be our favourite bitter-sharp cider apple variety.

We felt that the rural method, an old technique allowing us to retain natural sugars in the final cider, would be the best way of showcasing the beauty of the fruit, and bottling it as a pét nat, helped to capture all the freshness of the vintage.

What’s come out of this, is a cider that pours a slightly hazy gold, releasing lovely aromas of tarte Tatin, roses and baking spice. In the mouth it has noticeable sweetness, but it’s the sheer juiciness and energy of the liquid that grabs your attention before flavours of warm apple pie, ripe cherries and vanilla begin to unfurl. Joined by a lovely sweet florality and fabulously soft tannins, it’s as complete as it is delicious.

This cider loves spicy cuisine, so it’s worth popping a 6 pack in the hold on trips to Mumbai!

Serve well chilled. Gluten free. Vegan friendly. No added sulphites.

Clear 750ml via Press Online. Couple months of settling in the fridge & it's still just a bit murky. Mojito glass at home.

Strong pop of the cap & hard sizzle. Somewhat hazy, mellow honey gold.
Gently sweet, citrus peel, veggy, nutty, floral honey nose.
Tart & sweet with a stiff pith. Bright red apple, a little yuzu, soft earth. Not overly complex. Strong & constant Pet Nat carb, sulftite headache, low abv, good quaff.

Decent.

750ml bottle from Little Pomona. Orangey golden colour, bubbly white foam head that dissipates to a thin layer and aroma of apple, stone fruits, spice hint. Taste is sweetish, juicy fruity, appley, berry & peachy notes, alittle wood, vanilla, spice with some drying acidity and soft tannin. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, dry fruity acidic & tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.
