Brasserie d'Achouffe Houblon Chouffe IPA

Houblon Chouffe IPA

ABV: 9.0%   IPA - Belgian Out of Production
Highly sought-after by connoisseurs, Houblon CHOUFFE is a strong beer - 9% alc./vol., with a bitter and fruity taste. To recreate the bitterness of IPAs, we add three types of hops to our brews: Tomahawk, Saaz and Amarillo. Houblon CHOUFFE is the first Belgian IPA. Taste this magnificent beer and you can appreciate its subtle grapefruit note. This beer is also extremely popular as an ingredient in culinary dishes.

The gnomes of Fairyland may be little, but they have big, very big, personalities. HOUBLON CHOUFFE matches their impish spirits. All gnomes, with their innate good taste, are in full agreement about HOUBLON CHOUFFE, which is flavoured by three different types of hops. This India Pale Ale is appreciated for its pronounced bitterness combined with the fruity tones of traditional Achouffe beers: it softens the strongest of characters.

Bottle from Asda, Wycombe. Gold with a lasting white head. Grapefruit to the fore, giving a wisp of sharpness. A little banana, and then white pepper and lots of coriander seed. Mildly dry and bitter finish. It didn't all quite hold together for me; just ok overall.

A World Cup Of Beers#30. BELGIUM. An international brew with the football and some balance after the Spanish beer with the two countries currently playing each other. Mildly hazy golden beer, I had no idea it was nine percent from drinking it, only after I looked after plenty of sips already did I get a surprise, but I guess that's part of the magic of this Belgian ale. Fruity and much more stated in this respect than the traditional brews from this region , mild pale malts some bubble-gum, strength more obvious in aftertaste. Drank whilst watching the Spain vs Belgium match.

Barwa złota, lekko zamglone, piana biała, średnio obfita, średnio trwała.

W aromacie cytrusy, trawa cytrynowa, fenole, owoce.

W smaku półwytrawne, nieznaczna słodowość, sporo akcentów belgijskich, owocowych, lekkie przyprawy.

Goryczka do średniej, nieco brakuje, wysycenie w normie, alkohol wyczuwalny, dość pijalne.

Niezłe, ale bez rewelacji.

Fles thuis geprobeerd. Het is een troebel bleekgeel bier met een volle witte schuimkraag. Het heeft een aroma van hars en hop. De smaak is vol hoppig en harsig met een citrus achtige afdronk. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Houblon Chouffe IPA on 20 Sep 2017 at 05:36 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.5. Bottle from ASDA in Watford, Herts. A golden/yellow coloured pour with a huge white head on top. Hoppy, fruity, grassy, yeasty, spice. Quite dry and bitter. Decent, not had their IPA for many years.

Been a long time since I've had their IPA. It pours clear yellow with a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is fragrant and perfumed, banana candy, pear, melon, nougat, cereal and some spice. The taste is firmly dry, pleasing nip of booze, good hit of bitterness, grassy, leafy, toasty spice, prickly, estery fruits, pear, candied melon, touch of icing sugar, nougat and fragrant florals with a boozy, drying finish. Medium body and moderate+ foamy carbonation. My original rating was very low. Either his has improved over time and/or my tastes have (probably the latter). Rather decent Belgian IPA.
