Crafted with washed Rwanda Kilimbi coffee from Hard Lines, Stompin’ Grounds is a bold and unashamedly Liquid Mistress-esque Red IPA. This beer melds hearty malt sweetness with a selection of pithy hops to elevate the stunning coffee with tangerine and sherry notes. We love the biscuit and caramel character that has been captured in this edition of our Project Barista lineup, and the specialty malts aid in the subtle roastiness, only edged further by the coffee beans themselves. Hard Lines have been a staff favourite roaster for a long time now, and this is the first time we’ve used washed coffee in this series - which sees the beans roasted in a more natural method.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from Siren online. Pours deep red-brown with a foamy, khaki head. Medium sweet flavour with nice toasted grains, citrus, pine, brown bread, earth, smooth coffee. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Nicely rounded finish, some resinous pine, further toasted malts, burnt caramel, orange rind. Fun stuff.

330ml panda from LCB. Hazed amber-red with off white top. Aroma of coffee, malt, toffee, berry, red wine. Taste of coffee, berries, light roast, caramel, malt, light spice, a citric zest cuts through. Medium bodied, a touch sticky on the palate but not overbearing. This is certainly nice but lacks a malt depth although the coffee adds an extra dimension.

Can on the train home from Bingohame, picked up from Tilt, 06/09/24. Deep amber with reddish hues and topped with a lasting light beige crown. Nose is dried fruit rinds, hint of dusty red berries, cocoa powder, coffee bean, spice. Taste comprises caramel wafer, coffee grinds, dried red berries, cold brew coffee, charr. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close. Decent enough for the style ...the coffee peps it up for sure.
