A Thousand Summers is a true milestone for our brewery, and it all started with access to some amazing barrels. Some years back we were introduced to a decadent and unique cherry wine while at a festival in Copenhagen. It was love at first sip. We were extremely fortunate later to acquire four French oak puncheons that previously held Frederiksdal cherry wine. Barrels of this caliber deserve to be filled with only the best one’s beer, so we devised a simple but elegant Saison that we then aged on Matsumoto Family Farm “Summer Grand” nectarines. The result is sublime. Flowery descriptors do little to articulate the magic in this bottle; you’ll surely each come up with your own. We are so proud to share A Thousand Summers with you, our friends. To many more, Sante!

Bottle. Pours very lightly hazy yellow gold with a medium kind of fizzy white head and some lacing. Aroma is really refined, nice stonefruit, cherry pits, hints of dust, brett, basement, lemon peel, mineral water, oak. Aroma is fairly light overall. Flavor is light tart, light funk, stonefruit, lemon, cherry, oak, mineral water, basement. Medium body, soft mouthfeel. Gonna have to agree with the crowd on this - this beer is God nectar in a bottle. Holy balance and complexity.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is fairly fruity with moderate nectarine notes, light oak and cherry notes. Hints of green grape, pineapple and lemon. Faint grain notes and light peppery and herbal phenolic notes. Pours a slightly hazy, bright golden orange color with a small, moderately thick, frothy head that quickly recedes to the edges before disappearing. No lacing and faint legs. Flavor is somewhat acidic with a light sweetness and dry finish. Light grain notes, medium low bitterness and some mineral notes from the water. Moderately strong nectarine notes with lighter oak and cherry. Even lighter green grape, lemon and tropical fruit notes. Nectarines, lemon and cherry linger in the finish. Faint herbal phenolics. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a lovely beer. Nice fruit notes that integrate really well with the barrel qualities. The base saison shines through with the typical SARA characteristics, but it's super clean and minerally. Very nice.
