Nelson Saison is a blend of beers produced in June and December 2019 from turbid mashes. The June brew used aged Nelson Sauvin as the bittering hop and was fermented in a 500 litre ex-cider butt, producing a beer with wonderful balance, delicate acidity and aromas of fresh cut grass. The December brew used fresh Nelson Sauvin and Motueka hops in the boil, before fermentation in small white Burgundy barrels. This produced a firmly acidic beer with aromas of gooseberry, lime and vanilla. The finished beer was blended in January 2022 and dry-hopped with more fresh Nelson Sauvin before bottling. The beer matured for a further five months in bottle before release.

Very bright, lovely round citrus and pepper, with a clean finish, spritzy mouthfeel

Bottle from Mills online shop. Pours hazy gold with a foamy white cap. Aroma:white whine vinous, gooseberry, oak, yeasty. Taste: bright, spritzy, tangy & dry. Notes of gooseberry, lime, oak, slight white wine barrel. Medium body with spritzy carbonation. Superb. Might even be my favourite Mills.

Bottle. Mills online shop. Hazed gold with a creamy off white foam. Looks the business. Nose has super tangy leafy hop. Big vinous Nelson. Super clean yeasty saison character. Further notes of ripe citrus and peach stone. Mineral and oak. Taste is tart and super juicy. Twang of sourness. Crisp and vibrant with fairly high foamy carbonation. More twangy bitterness to finish with a touch of spice for the purpose of extra dimension. Typically high quality gear.
