Traditionally, beers made in the midlands would have had a slight smokiness due to the malt being dried from peat fires. This stout brings out that combination of smoke & roast while remaining light on the palate.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2017, [ Great British Beer Festival 2017 ], London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX.[ As White Gypsy Old Smoke ].Clear dark red brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, dark malt, sweet malt, smoke. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light and moderate bitter with a long duration, smoke, dark malt, roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20170809] 7-4-7-3-14

Cask @ GBBF 2017. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty caramel aroma with weak smoky hints. Roasted malty smoky caramel flavor. Has a roasted malty caramel smoky finish.

Heavy smoke like Backdraft. Loght caramel. Black pour with good head and lacing. Bittersweet end. Bottle from Fine Wines in Galway.

500ml bottle at home. Pours inky black, thick rocky tan head. Lovely smoked malt and chocolate aroma. Complex smoke, coffee, milk chocolate flavour, some thick barley notes. Nice dense finish

Sampled @ GBBF 2017, Day 2. A dark brown beer with a mid sized most good lasting tan head. Aroma of smoked dark brown malt, Coffee. Taste mild smoky malt, coffee, mild roasted malt.

Draught at WJ Kavanaghs. Black with a tan head. Aroma of sweet roast malt. Flavour is dry licorice, cardboard, dark malt, a little Smoke. Light no dry coarse finish.
